Its primary advantage is providing superior lateral control; when a turning aid is applied, the long bar on the opposite side presses against the horse’s face, giving a very clear physical signal to turn. This design also prevents the bit from being pulled through the horse's mouth, which is especially helpful for young horses still learning to steer or those that tend to resist rein pressure.
