Baucher Bits, also known as Fillis or hanging cheek snaffles, are designed with a unique "upward" extension on the cheekpiece where the bridle’s cheekpieces attach, while the reins attach to the main ring. This configuration allows the bit to hang suspended and remarkably stable in the horse's mouth. Because the bit is held slightly higher and away from the bars, it is often a go-to choice for horses with sensitive mouths or those that find traditional snaffles too "busy" or prone to sagging.
